Speculation & Rumor

Will Rogal Dorn Return?

The Lord of Iron is back. The galaxy holds its breath for the Emperor's Praetorian.

Rogal Dorn

Current Lore Status

Officially, Rogal Dorn is listed as missing in action after leading a boarding assault on the Chaos battleship Sword of Sacrilege. Only his skeletal hand, encased in amber, was recovered. However, many within the Imperial Fists and Black Templars firmly believe their Primarch still lives.

Popular Speculation (Mid-2026)

  • Grudge Match vs. Perturabo โ€” With the Lord of Iron's dramatic return, many fans and lore experts believe Dorn is the most narratively logical next loyalist Primarch to counter him.
  • Black Templars Connection โ€” Some speculate Dorn could return leading or closely tied to the Black Templars, embracing a more crusading, wrathful persona after ten thousand years of war.
  • Hidden Defender โ€” Theories suggest he has been operating in secret, possibly disguised among the Custodes or fighting in the darkest corners of the Imperium Nihilus.
  • 11th Edition Tease โ€” With Games Workshop hinting at more Primarch returns in 2026, Dorn is frequently named alongside Leman Russ as one of the strongest candidates.
Fan Favorite Theory:

Dorn will return one-handed and furious, carrying the pain of ten millennia. A meeting with Roboute Guilliman would be tense โ€” two brothers with very different visions for the Imperium's future.

Whether he returns as the stoic defender of old or a hardened crusader, the arrival of Rogal Dorn would be one of the most significant events in the Era Indomitus.

Lore Feature

The Infinite Citadel

Perturabo's Grand Plan to Grind the Imperium to Dust

Perturabo Infinite Citadel

The Lord of Iron has returned to the battlefield with a vision far more terrifying than any single siege. No longer content with isolated victories, Perturabo has unleashed his master plan: The Infinite Citadel.

What Is the Infinite Citadel?

A nightmarish campaign of endless attrition and fortification. Instead of a single decisive strike on Terra, Perturabo intends to transform conquered systems into unbreakable fortress worlds โ€” one after another โ€” slowly crawling toward the Throneworld like an unstoppable iron cancer.

  • Entire planets are quarried down to their core to build continent-spanning fortifications.
  • Warp-touched walls stretch between systems, thinning the veil between realspace and the Immaterium.
  • Every battle, every massacre, serves to expand the Citadel and bring Perturabo physically closer to Terra.

Current Status (Mid-2026)

The assault on the Cadian Gate is now considered the opening move of the Infinite Citadel. The Iron Warriors, under Perturabo's direct command, are methodically grinding down remaining loyalist strongholds in the region, turning every victory into a new layer of the ever-expanding fortress network.

Lore Insight:

Unlike Abaddon's lightning strikes, Perturabo plays the longest game imaginable. He does not want a quick victory โ€” he wants the Imperium to bleed for every inch of ground until nothing remains but iron and dust.

With Fulgrim already active and Guilliman and the Lion defending the Imperium, the return of the Lord of Iron signals a new and brutal phase of the Era Indomitus. The galaxy has not seen the last of the IV Legion's wrath.
